Today is October 5th, 2009.
Today is an absolutely gorgeous day, so I thought I would finish the task that the mosquitos wouldn’t let me finish last night: baricading the backyard.
Phil and bought some concrete edgers to block off the gap between the bottom of the fence and the ground. In particular there was a huge hole beneath the “gate” [...]
Today is September 28th, 2009.
I’m usually not a terribly productive person, ever, but I do have my exceptions. Today was one of those. Among other things I rarely do but I did today, I prepared my backyard for Operation: Stray Cat Elimination.
Remember the essential oils I ordered? Well, they came today. (So did some awesome looking tea and yerba [...]
Today is August 5th, 2009.
Today was the day.
My tomato plants just up and stopped growing flower buds, and the ones that did grew dropped consistently. There’s no chance of getting tomatoes from those plants, and they were just hogging the sun and water that could go to healthy plants, so I decided to cut them loose (har de har).
Now [...]
Today is July 19th, 2009.
It’s about 12:30pm on a Sunday, which is the first day of my weekend, and is when I get most of my food shopping done. I do this on Sunday mornings for 2 reasons: the grocery store is still fairly empty, and it’s the only time I know I will be able to find a [...]
Today is July 2nd, 2009.
The blossoms on the two out of three tomato plants that have been blossoming have been dropping consistently, but yesterday I noticed that the blossoms themselves look bad. Up until this point I’ve had a sort of “let them drop, eventually they’ll start fruiting” attitude because last year so many blossoms dropped early on, and [...]
Today is June 25th, 2009.
As promised, even though no one cares/ reads this/ whatever, here’s an update. Sorry I disappeared.
Oh, and I found that picture in the Commons, a public photo collection on Flickr.
This is a really lazy post of pictures of my garden. I put captions in but they’re not appearing, apparently, so I’ll just tell you what [...]
Today is June 1st, 2009.
First off, thanks for the concerns about my plants. At first I was pretty upset about it, but I just didn’t have the energy to get too angry. I knew some attack would come on them, and now it has. And yes, they all died. But I had some plants on the roof that are [...]
Today is May 17th, 2009.
I know I shouldn’t have a favorite, but I’m very partial to my kale right now. They’re just about ready to be transplanted into their permanent containers, and I just love the shape of their true leaves.
I can’t wait to eat it! Mua ha ha.
Today is May 8th, 2009.
If I can just toot my own horn for a moment, I’d like to say that the past few days were days of success regarding my ‘I’m hungry and tired so here’s some dinner real quick’ method of cooking. On Tuesday, we ate this:
It wasn’t anything special, but completely accidentally Mexican-inspired on Cinco de Mayo. [...]
Today is April 29th, 2009.
I finally ventured to the Spring Garden Market at 4th and Spring Garden the other day. I didn’t have much money on me, but yesterday I decided to go back and get some cheap fruit and produce for juice. Here’s yesterday’s juice before I stirred it.
Hah! Isn’t that weird? It’s a kiwi, an apple, a [...]
