Today is December 30th, 2009.

happy new year’s eve eve

I don’t usually make resolutions for the New Year, because I feel like they will fail.  And besides, all the things I do want to resolve to do this year should just be done because I need to do them, not because they are a “New Year resolution”.

So I thought of a kind of good one that I think could really help my life out, and it’s something I’ve never done before:

Write out a To Do list every morning while I’m eating breakfast.

I doubt it will actually happen every morning, but I’d like to try.

Anyone else have any good ones?

BTW, I’ll be posting about the rest of my San Diego trip soon.  I haven’t had a chance to upload the photos!

That one sounds good! The thing to remember is to not let your resolution be something that is unrealistic or unattainable. Anyway, that said, I am making a resolution to eat at least one meat-free dinner every week. If I want more than one per week, well then I will just do that. My resolution, by the way, was inspired in large part by a news story that I saw on CNN regarding illegal animal slaughterhouses in Florida, near Miami. I have a link to it on Facebook. It was a truly revolting story.

I’ve managed to keep nearly all my resolutions the past few years, mostly by doing what Mom said and just having them be realistic. No “starting on January 1st, I will completely reinvent myself!” but just like… “Through the course of this year I’m going to try to accomplish this and this!” I usually have one that’s work-relatd, one that’s money-related (budget of X), and one or two that are personal - I’ll read at least 50 books, for instance, or I’ll make sure to add some kind of activity to my workouts. Also I don’t usually consider them to be New Years’ resolutions but rather goals, and so it doesn’t matter if I don’t start them right at the beginning of the new year, so long as I try to keep them going as much as possible during the year. …And you didn’t need to know any of this. :) G’night Seattle, we love you!
